Woqod inks MoU with QMIC to use Masarak

DOHA: Qatar Fuel (Woqod), who are specialised in distribution and marketing of petroleum and LPG products in Qatar, has announced its latest memorandum of understanding (MoU) signing with Qatar Mobility Innovations Center (QMIC) for its Masarak solution, to manage the fleet logistics and operations for Woqod.

Masarak is an intelligent end-to-end solution and suite of services, which was developed locally by QMIC in partnership with the Ministry of Municipality and Urban Planning (MMUP). Masarak’s iTraffic solution offers real-time traffic information about traffic conditions and congestion around the country. This solution is available both on web and mobile applications, serving consumers, enterprises, and government organizations to help them enhance their operations and reduce their time spent in traffic. In addition to Masarak, QMIC is focusing on many other smart solutions  and Connected Vehicles .

Institute of Internal Auditors hold workshop on ‘systems thinking’

As part of the agreement, Woqod will be using Masarak’s iFleet solution for fleet logistics and telematics management. Woqod’s vehicles will be equipped with Masarak’s devices, to monitor driver behavior including harsh acceleration, over speeding, and harsh braking, distance traveled.

Ibrahim Jaham Al Kuwari, CEO of Woqod said: “We are happy to sign this agreement according to which we will be using this significant platform, as we are proud that it’s a Qatari made solution. The availability of such information, especially with the right incentives, could have a great positive effect on our drivers’ behaviors and can help us play a role in increasing road safety by minimizing accidents, as Road Safety is one of Woqod’s priorities”.

Dr. Adnan Abu-Dayya, Executive Director (CEO) of QMIC said, “As a national organization, it’s a great milestone for us to partner with an important entity such as Woqod, and provide them with Masarak’s platform for logistics and telematics services. This is a suite of services and applications, within an ecosystem to help manage fleets, enhance traffic and road safety. QMIC will be providing Woqod with traffic information and driving behavior monitoring, which in time will help minimize risks on the road in case drivers are not committed to traffic regulations”.
