PESHAWAR: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa (KP) Chief Minister Pervez Khattak has accused the Wapda officials of stealing electricity and asked State Minister for Water and Power Abid Sher Ali to visit the province to schedule the electricity timing.
While talking to media at his chamber in Peshawar, the chief minister said that Abid Sher Ali was talking too much on TV channels but failed to give a proper solution to resolve power crisis. He alleged that Wapda officials were involved in power theft. He threatened if Wapda failed to provide KP its due share of electricity then they would proceed towards Islamabad and the federal government would be responsible in case of happening any untoward incident.
Khattak said that the KP was being deprived of 8,479MW electricity by the Pesco during the last two weeks. He said the statistics sent by Pesco to Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government revealed that out of total 202,349MW electricity generated from June 8-23, 2015, the share of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province constituted at 27,318MW at the rate 13.5 per cent. But the Pesco could utilise only 18,839MW, which caused prolonged power outages in the province, he added.
