KARACHI: After massive power outages and increasing death toll due to heatstroks, the demand for electricity generators has doubled.
Pakistan Machinery Merchants Group President Khurram Saigal said that Ramazan, loadshedding and the heatwave have collectively caused hike in demand of power gadgets.
“Dealers who were selling 10 generators a day ahead of Ramazan are now clearing 25 units on an average per day,” he said, adding that the rush of buyers has not subsided despite marginal decline in the temperature recently.
People are buying from one to three kilovolt-ampere (kVA) generators for their homes. A chunk of demand for three to six kVA generators comes from tailor masters and stitching units, who are loaded with dress making orders for Eidul Fitr.
