NATO/ISAF pilferage case: Customs Court adjourns hearing till July 1

KARACHI: The special judge of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling Court heard 15 bail applications of the persons arrested by the investigation team of Afghan Transit Trade working on US Army, NATO and ISAF Cargo pilferage case and adjourned till July 1.

Out of the 15 persons, 11were the drivers of vehicles, while 2 namely Muhammad Umer and Masood are the employees of Multitrans Private Limited and Suhail Daood of Bilal Associates.

After hearing both the sides for over two and a half hour, the judge adjourned the hearing till July 1, 2015.

During the hearing, Suhail Muzaffar counsel for one Shahid Ansari CEO of Bilal Associates reportedly the mastermind who was on protective bail from Sindh High Court (SHC) pleaded before the court that his client was seriously ill and was not in the position to face the custody.

He pleaded for the constitution of a ‘Medical Board’ to get doctors’ opinion about his health.

While the honourable judge ordered Shahid Ansari to appear before the medical board of Agha Khan Hospital and ordered to submit the report on the next hearing.

Meanwhile, a surety bond of Rs 2 million was also ordered in FIRs 3/2015 and 4/2015 which was submitted by him.
