Row between federal and Sindh govt on tax issue touches new peak

KARACHI: Row between the federal and Sindh governments is touching new peak on the issue of vehicles tax.  Sources told Customs Today that the federal government has deducted Rs 86.2 million directly from the accounts of the Sindh government.

Sources further revealed that case of previous fiscal year’s deduction of Rs 67 million is still pending. The federal government has again deducted the amount from the Sindh government’s accounts. Sources said that the Sindh government has sent many reminders to the Federal Board of Revenue to refund the money, but a reply from the authorities concerned is still awaited.

Sources said that this matter is not resolved yet, now authorities again deduct amount of rupees eight crore and sixty lakh from our accounts, sources said that we are always tried our best to achieve financial target but this unjustified act is not acceptable to us.

Sources said that in the beginning of current fiscal year Sindh government is also facing a loss of Rs 27 billion, now provincial government is considering to borrow amount from State Bank of Pakistan to pay the salaries of provincial government employees.
