Govt imposes 20pc customs duty on import of tyres, tubes

ISLAMABAD: The Federal Board Of Revenue (FBR) has imposed 20 percent customs duty on import of tyres and tubes of small vehicles.

According to details, 20 percent customs duty has been imposed on the import of tyres and tubes of small vehicles, including cars, jeeps, tractors, cycles and motorcycles. Only 5 percent customs duty will be charged on the import of tyres and tubes of heavy-duty vehicles, including buses and trucks .

Sources added that due to the imposition of 20 percent customs duty, the tyres and tube of these vehicles will become more expensive.

It is important to mention here that government has also decided to withdraw duty exemptions on pick-ups 4×4 vehicles imported by exploration and production companies.

The said vehicles have only 5.0 percent customs duty, but they would be charged at statutory rate of duty.
