Traders rejects tax on banking transactions

LAHORE: All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran rejected recently imposed 0.6 percent tax on banking transactions. He appealed to government to withdraw the tax immediately.

Addressing a press conference president All Pakistan Anjuman-e-Tajran Ashraf Bhatti, patron-in-chief Zaheer Babar, general secretary Anjuman-e-Tajran Lahore Haji Tahir Naveed, general secretary Mian Shahid Gogi and president power loom association Mirza Shafiq,  appealed government to look into this matter and announce withdrawal of tax, otherwise all traders will stage protest against this decision.

Other prominent traders were also present during the press conference include Anjuman-e-Tajran Lahoer Babar Mehmood, Anjuman-e-Tajran Punjab Shaikh Irshad, president Defence Board Mian Saeed, Khawaja Amir, chairman, Haji Liaquat Ali, president Garhi Shahu Board Mian Ijaz, president Layyton Road, Malik Nazim, president Rickshaw association Bagi Khan, secretary information Mian Mohammad Idrees, president Rehman Galian, president Ravi Road Board Mian Abdul Rehman, Mian Saleem, vice president Anjuman Tajran Anarkali, Sheikh Arshad, general secretary inside Lahore Board Haji Ashfaq, senior vice president Saleem Gallu, coordomatpr Irfan Madni. Shaikh Fazal Elahi president Shah Alami , Khurram Gujjar chairman transport association.

Ashraf Bhatti further said that imposition of this tax would force business community to conduct its monetary transactions in cash that would promote the undocumented economy.

They appealed to Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif, Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar to announce immediate withdrawal of withholding tax on banking transactions.
