Gov. Jerry Brown’s California Competes program has allocated some $200 million in tax credits in fiscal 2016 for companies to expand in or relocate to California. State officials will offer one-hour workshops on how to apply for the credits from July 14 to Aug. 7 in Tustin, Murrieta, Redlands, Torrance, San Diego and more than a dozen other cities statewide.
The free program is open to small, medium and large businesses. Beginning July 20, companies can apply online at calcompetes.ca.gov, a website that also offers an application guide and other technical documents. Last year, Go-Biz allocated some $150 million to 212 companies under the program. Those companies are projected to create more than 29,400 jobs and make more than $7.1 billion in investments.
QSC Holdings, a Costa Mesa audio and video equipment manufacturer, hired 27 employees and received a $300,000 credit on its investment of $15.2 million.
