Faisalabad Customs Intelligence seizes contraband items worth Rs 2m

FAISALABAD: The Customs Investigation and Intelligence Faisalabad has confiscated a smuggled compressor and a generator worth Rs 2 million, including duty/taxes Rs 1.06 million, besides impounding the offender vehicle valued at Rs 1 million.

Additional Director Customs Intelligence, M.Ismail received information about the smuggling of foreign origin goods on which he formed a team to foil the smuggling bid. Intelligence officers Muhammad Tahir Iqbal, Mansoor Khan, Muhammad Sikander and others comprised the team.

The customs team intercepted the truck bearing Registration No. RID-2791 near Khurrianwala bypass, Faisalabad and recovered the said items.

The intelligence staff asked the accused person namely Sher Muhammad and Amir Nawaz to produce any evidence regarding the legal import of items on which customs seized the compressors and a generator and also impounded the vehicle under Section 157 (2) of Customs Act 1969.
