Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

LAHORE: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) recovered 39 kgs of Charas, 120,000 Psychotropic tablets, six kgs of Opium and 1.3 kgs of heroin in six raids conducted in Islamabad, Mianwali, Lahore, Haripur and Peshawar.
The force also arrested 11 persons and seized 1 vehicle during the raids.
In Mianwali, the ANF intercepted a car near Hamza Cotton Mills on MM Road and recovered 34.1 kgs of Charas and 3.6 kgs of Opium concealed in CNG Cylinder and secret compartment of the car. The force also arrested a peddler identified as Amir Abdullah Khan.
In Lahore, the ANF nailed a drug supplier Naseem Ullah Shah in a raid carried out near G-1 Market Johar Town and recovered 2.4 kgs of Opium from his possession.
In Rawalpindi, the ANF nabbed one Sajjad Hussain at Benazir International Airport and recovered 186 Heroin filled capsules concealed in a box containing sweets.
Similarly at Peshawar Airport, the force caught Ban Raz Khan and Nasir Khan with 120,000 Psychotropic tablets.
In Mansehra, the ANF conducted a raid on Pakistan Hotel near Bus Stand and arrested Juma Mir with 5 kgs of Charas.
In Peshawar, the ANF conducted a raid at Haji Camp near Bus Stand and arrested five drug peddlers with contraband.
