Excise continues inquiry against officials involved in corruption

LAHORE: Investigations against corrupt officials in the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department will be completed next month, a responsible officer of the excise directorate general Lahore told Customs Today. The investigation was started in June.

According to sources, some officials of the department, including Motor Branch, are allegedly involved in malpractices and corruption.

The investigation has been started to rid the department of corrupt elements. According to sources, the excise has started investigation against data entry operator Muhammad Atif, two officials of IT department including Muhammad Adrees and Shahbaz and Muhammad Jamil.

Another motor branch clerk Muhammad Farooq was also allegedly involved in malpractice and corruption.

These corrupt officers have caused the loss of Rs 8 millions to the national kitty. They received money from public but did not deposit it to the national treasury.
Number of other officials are also involved in corruption and department is eager to take strict action against all such so called officers who are damaging the image of the department and are making huge loss to the national kitty.
