Judge issues notice to FIA for not recovering missing necklace from ex-PM Gilani

MULTAN: An additional sessions judge has issued a show-cause notice to the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Multan deputy director for not starting an investigation into the missing necklace donated by the Turkish first lady for the flood victims of Mehmood Kot in 2010. Former prime minister Yousaf Raza Gilani and his wife Fauzia Gilani  are facing the charges of stealing the necklace.

The notice has been issued by Additional Sessions Judge Bakhat Fakhar Behzad to the FIA deputy director for violation of a court direction.

Javed Iqbal, a resident of Kot Addu, filed a complaint, seeking investigations into the matter under the FIA (Inquires and Investigations) Rules 2002 .

The petitioner said that he contacted the FIA for lodging a case against the former prime minister and his wife but the agency was reluctant to do so. He requested the court to direct FIA to lodge the case and recover the missing necklace.

The petitioner requested the court to take action against the Deputy Director Federal Investigation Agency Multan by lodging FIR under section 5(2)47 of Prevention of Corruption Act as the court orders were violated. The has Judge directed the FIA authorities to submit their reply to the application
