LHC extends stay order in luxury tax case

LAHORE: The Lahore High Court (LHC) has extended a stay order in luxury tax case until September 16, 2015. The luxury tax is imposed on house which are constructed on two or more than two canals. It is pertinent to mention here that  more than 650 pleas are already filed in the LHC against the luxury tax.

A two-member LHC bench is hearing the case. The bench is headed by Justice Shahid Jameel Khan.

The counsel further states that citizens are already paying property tax and according to law double tax imposition is illegal..

Attorney General told to the Court that Punjab government imposed luxury tax under finance act and constitution empowers government that in according with law government can impose any type of tax.
