Afghan route closure weighs on Pakistan-Central Asia trade, exports fall 9%, imports plunge 88%

RAWALPINDI: Syed Asad Haider Mashadi of Mian Pervaiz Aslam Group elected unopposed as President of Rawalpindi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI) for the year 2014-15.
The three-member RCCI election commission consisted of Naveed Javed, Chaudhry Iqbal Ahmed and Tariq Javed Butt announced unopposed election of the winners at a meeting held here.
The announcement of newly-elected Senior Vice President Mian Humayun Parvez and Vice President Saboor Malik was also made. The newly-elected office bearers will assume charge of their office from October 1, 2014.
According to the election commission, no nomination papers was filed against the candidates for the slots of President, Senior Vice President and Vice President hence the election commission declared them as winners.
Earlier for the election of the RCCI Executive Committee, 23 candidates submitted nomination papers for five seats of Associate Class; 18 of them withdrew their nomination papers and thus election commission announced the remaining five candidates successful.
For Corporate Class nine nomination papers were submitted but four candidates withdrew their paper at which the election commission declared the rest of five winners.
RCCI President Dr Shamail Daud Arain and Group Leader Sheikh Shabbir felicitated the newly-elected office bearers.
