LAHORE: The Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry (LCCI) has established “Flood Relief Fund” with an initial amount of Rs 5 million for the flood affectees.
The LCCI President Ijaz A. Mumtaz said that the aim of establishing the “Flood Relief Fund” is to extend help to the victims who are in dire need of rescue.
Ijaz A. Mumtaz appealed to the members of the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry to show generosity towards their catastrophe-hit brothers and sisters who are sitting under the open sky without necessities of life.
Ijaz A. Mumtaz said that business community has to perform an extraordinary role as the situation had become too grave to be handled by the government alone.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would continue to fulfill its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) in a winsome manner as it has the understanding that the government alone cannot cope with the mass devastation caused by the floods.
He said that the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry has played a vital role at all testing times and credit goes to the LCCI members who gave maximum for the help of their deprived brothers and sisters.
Ijaz A. Mumtaz said that matchless cooperation of the LCCI members has always given a new strength and encouragement to the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
He said that in past, the Lahore Chamber of Commerce & Industry had given donations of million rupees for earthquake & flood victims and also constructed houses in Leyyah for the flood-hit people.
He said the Lahore Chamber of Commerce and Industry would arrange food supplies, clothing, medicines and tents from the funds it was collecting from its members and truck loads of these supplies would be dispatched to all parts of the affected areas.
He said that the calamity caused by the floods is extremely severe. “Government alone cannot cope with the situation”, he said adding that the whole national particularly those with better resources would have to rise to the occasion and play their role in reducing the stress of flood victims.
