Rs 333 million goods imported from India via Wagha Border

LAHORE: Pakistan has imported items worth Rs 333 million between September 15 and 21 from India via the Wagha border.

According to available documents, the major items were potatoes, tomatoes, garlic, cake-oil, polyethylene and cotton yarn.

The documents also read Pakistan imported potatoes worth Rs 19.8 million during the last week. No duty has been imposed on the import of potatoes from India until the end of November 2014.

Similarly, Pakistan imported tomatoes worth Rs 186 million in the last week of current month and the income tax (I-Tax) amount remained Rs 11 million, while Rs 1.8 million garlic reached Lahore and I-Tax was Rs 113,183.

According to details, ginger and cake-oil worth Rs 34 million and Rs 28.6 million have been imported respectively in the last week.

Carbon dioxide (H.S Code 2811-2100) import remained Rs 5.8 million,
while two types of polyethylene – H.S. Code 3901-1000 and H.S. Code 3901-2000 worth Rs 4.2 million and Rs. 22.8 million respectively were imported.

Besides that Pakistan has imported polypropylene (H.S Code 3902-1000), cotton yarn (H.S Code 5202-1200) and (H.S Code 5206-1200) worth Rs 10 million, Rs 17.6 million and Rs 1 million respectively.

As a whole, Pakistan’s import stands at Rs 333 million, while total paid duty remained Rs 9.2 million in the last week.

Last week’s sales tax, additional sales tax and income tax at Wagha border were Rs 9.5 million, Rs 0.39 million and Rs 17 million
respectively.
