Dar approves formation of Tax Reforms Commission

ISLAMABAD: Federal Finance Minister Ishaq Dar has given approval for constitution of Tax Reforms Commission.

FBR Chairman Tariq Bajwa will be supervisor of the commission and the commission headed by a Chartered Accountant will work on tax reforms. The commission will consist of 20 members. Tax Reforms Commission was demand of international monetary organisations.

The members of the commission will include the country’s best and renowned economists and business experts. Former governors of the State Bank, ex-secretary finance and bankers will be included in the commission.

The commission will prepare tax reforms after consultation of all stakeholders which will be later presented to the government for approval. The purpose of tax reforms is to increase tax net and form such an automated transparent system which is not dependent on human resource and in which every citizen gets attached with the tax system.
