“On body search, the staff recovered 189,000 UAE Dirham ($51,030), which was concealed in under-garment and shoes,” said Irfan Ali, Senior Preventive Officer.

Under the law a passenger is allowed to carry $10,000 on condition that the amount should be declared at the departure.

The person has been arrested and the customs authorities initiated further legal proceedings.

Two days earlier, the preventive staff at the international arrival hall of the airport recovered 1.2 kilogram gold bar from a passenger, who arrived from Dubai.
