Non-availability of return forms, delays in issuance of NTN numbers irk taxpayers

LAHORE: Non-availability of return forms, delays in issuance of NTN numbers, shortage of PRAL staff has offended taxpayers at the Lahore Tax House.

This was stated by Lahore Tax Bar Association (LTBA) President Munsha Sukhera while talking to Customs Today here.

He said e-filing is also inoperative while new system of IRIS is yet to be made operational. “All these issues will ultimately hurt the motive of broadening of tax net and collection of revenue, “ he apprehended.  The LTBA president further said that the process of the application of NTN and sales tax registration is also working with snail’s pace due to the shortage of experts appointed at operating the PRAL system at the Lahore Tax House.

The LTBA president said that in the pretense of such basic issue the taxpayers have been offended and have the tendency to do away with the filing of the returns.

Sukhera further added that in order to increase number of taxpayers the FBR should expedite the process of processing of NTN making the registration process simple.

He added that in order to enhance tax net base and increase revenue collection FBR must not put the taxpayers in awkward position instead they should be facilitated.
