ARCC, EDC Warren County to hold public forum on regional economic development

ALABAMA: EDC Warren County and Adirondack Regional Chamber of Commerce will hold a public forum at in Room 128 of the Regional Higher Education Center at SUNY Adirondack in Queensbury to get suggestions for a regional economic development strategy.

It’s important that unique needs of Warren and Washington counties, such as infrastructure and broadband, aren’t left out of the plan, Bartholomew said. They’re not wants. They’re needs, he said. But they must be tied in creatively with an overall plan to create jobs.

The goal of the contest is to generate transformational strategies and initiatives” that connect various employers, industries and themes in the region. Members of the 10 county Capital Region Economic Development Council, which will determine the final plan to submit in the contest, will be at the forum to listen.

Three winning upstate regions will receive $100 million each in annual funding for five years. In addition, each winning region will receive an estimated $30 million in the regular 2015 round of economic development funding, for an estimated $130 million each in 2015.
