TALLAHASSEE: The Florida National Guard (NG) has reopened the state’s six storefront recruitment centers nearly a month after Gov. Rick Scott ordered recruiters to relocate to armories after a Tennessee shooting.Scott announced that the centers will reopen with new safety protocols that include arming Guardsmen, enhancing protective storefront infrastructure and assigning additional armed security.
Scott initially ordered the Guardsmen to be armed last month, as did governors in Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma and Indiana.Security for the recruiting centers has come under scrutiny since officials say Kuwait born Muhammad Youssef Abdulazeez killed four Marines and a sailor at a Chattanooga reserve center on July 16.
