ASO seizes 46 LED TVs worth Rs 2 million

LAHORE: The Customs Preventive Lahore’s Anti-Smuggling Organization (ASO) has seized another 46 LED TVs near Tokhar Niaz Baigh, sources told Customs Today.

The LEDs were being transported to Lahore when the customs officials intercepted two trucks loaded with LEDs, the sources said, adding that the estimated value of the LEDs have been determined at Rs 2 millions involving duty and tax of Rs 1 million at least.

The sources said that the LEDs included almost all sizes.

Earlier, on Saturday on information of Collector of Customs Lahore Preventive, Mukarram Jah Ansari intercepted a truck loaded with LEDs including sizes of 32 to 60 inches at the Faizpur Interchange.

The customs team consisting of Inspector Sajad Bukhari under the supervision of Superintendent Mumtaz Ajmal Mian asked the owner party to show customs clearance document but they failed.

The Customs ASO team seizing the illegal LEDs has registered a case in this regard and initiated further inquiries.

The sources said that the estimated value of the LEDs is Rs 1.2 million involving Rs 600,000 duty and taxes.
