ISLAMABAD: The Customs Investigation and Intelligence has filed a reply to an application submitted by the TCS, a courier company’s Chief Executive Saqib Hamdani, a prime suspect in Smart Zone smuggling case, for his release under section 265A to Customs and Taxation Court.

After this agreement, TCS had been supplied non-duty paid goods to different dealers of Smart Zone all over the country, Customs Intelligence stated, claiming that Hamdani’s statement regarding his innocence was baseless.

Customs also took stance that TCS after agreement did not ask about the legal documents of the items which were being transported, while it was essential for courier company to demand the documents regarding the legal import of the item according to law from the customers.

The court will hear the case in second week of the September.
