ANF gets convictions for 306 drug traffickers in 8 months

ISLAMABAD: Anti Narcotics Force (ANF) could get convictions for total 306 convicts for their involvement in drugs trafficking in first eight months of the current year.

The Supreme Court of Pakistan and High Courts disposed off total 314 appeals related to the drug trafficking in first eight months of the current year.

The available documents reveal that only one alleged drug trafficker was awarded with death penalty while remaining 305 were awarded with other punishments including life imprisonment, imprisonment more than ten years, from five to ten years and less than five years.

Break up show that 48 drug traffickers were awarded with life imprisonment, eleven were given more than ten years’ imprisonment, 24 were awarded imprisonment between five to ten years while 222 drugs’ traffickers were given less than five year imprisonment.

High Courts and Supreme Court of Pakistan disposed off total 314 appeals; 254 by High Courts and 60 by the Supreme Court of Pakistan in first eight months of the year.
