NEW YORK: The US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) authorities have expressed their concerns over possible Ebola risks at Washington Dulles International Airport, even the federal government assured that Ebola posed no serious threat to the United States.
In a statement issued by CBP, it referred the recent incident in which a voodoo priest was carrying African primate jewelry through an airport more than two weeks before the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) assured Americans that “Ebola poses no significant risk to U.S. public, and said that such incidents were the major cause of worry among customs officers.
On the other hand, CDC’s own published advice for humanitarian aid organizations also acknowledges that Ebola can be spread through “contact with infected animals” and advises volunteers to avoid contact with animals or with raw or under-cooked meat.
