Customs court hears 16 cases on Monday, issues judicial remand of accused

LAHORE: The Special Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling heard 16 different cases on Monday and issued necessary directions regarding these cases.

It is pertinent to mention here that after the transfer of Special Judge Nazeer Ahmad Gajana, Special Judge of the Banking Court Humayon Imtiaz has assumed the additional charge of Customs Taxation and Anti Smuggling Judge. He started the hearing of cases from last week.

During the hearing of a case against a smuggling suspect, Sayed Rehan Ahmad, the court ordered to send him to jail on judicial remand.

The cases, including those of tax evasion, customs, smuggling and narcotics, were scheduled for the day’s hearing, in which the judge issued specific directions to the parties concerned for further proceedings.

In a case against Malik Siraj and Muhammad Yosuf, the court adjourned the hearing of pre-arrest bail plea of the accused until the next date of hearing.

The cases of bail plea of Muhammad Ashfaq and Muhammad Ilyas were also scheduled for the day which were postponed until next hearing.
