The said directives have been issued by the Customs Intelligence Unit in pursuance of orders given by the Islamabad High Court in Writ Petition (WP) No. 4739/2013 and WP No. 4735/2013 filed by the importers.

The authorities concerned have asked the importers to replace the post-dated cheques of consignments cleared/released from the pay orders within one week without any failure.

The authorities concerned also said that the non-compliance of the orders of the high court would lead to the initiation of contempt proceedings against the importers and other legal action as required under Customs Act 1969 and rules made there under would be taken against the importers.

The importers of fleece fabric have moved the Islamabad High Court (IHC) and filed writ petitions against the increase in clearance value of fleece fabric from $2.20per kg to $3.30 per kg through issuance of valuation guideline.

The IHC in its recent verdict ordered the Pakistan Customs to ensure the clearance of the fleece fabric at previous rate.
