Ghazanfar is regional manager of TCS logistics and Shakirullah is Smart Zone chief executive. Smart Zone is the dealer of Samsung.  Ghazanfar and Shakirullah were taken into custody by the customs intelligence officials after their bail pleas were rejected a few days ago.

After completion of two-day physical remand, Deputy Director Intelligence and Investigation Rawalpindi Shahid Jaan requested the court to extend the remand for another ten days. However, the court gave a two day remand.

According to sources, Ghazanfar and Shakirullah failed to give satisfactory answers during the interrogation. Shakirullah could not present proof of duty paid for the smuggled items.

Shakirullah’s lawyer, however, claimed that they have all the legal papers of goods imported through Afghan Transit Trade. He refused to give these papers to the Customs officials. He said they would present these papers in the court at a right time.

However, the lawyers of both Shakirullah and Ghazanfar failed to answer when the court asked about the duty paid for these items.
