KARACHI: The K-Electric has signed an agreement with the Chinese companies to generate 700MW electricity through a coal-fired power plant at Port Qasim.
The K-Electric signed the Joint Development Agreement (JDA) with China Datang Overseas Investment Company (CDTO) and China Machinery Company (CMEC), which aims to bring investment of over $1 billion into Pakistan.
K-Electric CEO Tayyab Tareen, along with the senior management, received the high level delegation from CDTO and CMEC, which included CDTO President Duan Zhongmin and CMEC Vice President Wang Tianyi.
Addressing on the occasion, Tayyab Tareen said, “It gives us immense pleasure to join hands with companies like CDTO and CMEC for the development of the project that is of critical importance. K-Electric is developing new generation projects on priority basis and this particular project will go a long way in addressing the power needs of the country, specifically the people of Karachi.”
