LAHORE: The National Accountability Bureau (NAB)  Karachi on Thursday approached the Lahore High Court (LHC), seeking physical remand of Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) leader Qasim Zia.

During the hearing at the LHC, the NAB officials requested the court to hand over PPP leader to them for the recovery of looted money. The court asked about Zia’s offer regarding amount refund on which NAB lawyer stated that authorities are examining Qasim Zia’s offer.

After listening arguments, the court subsequently adjourned the hearing till September 23, 2015 and sought final reply from NAB.

It is pertinent to mention here, that NAB arrested Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) former Punjab president Qasim Zia for alleged fraud worth millions.

On the other hand the sources said that NAB Lahore is agree for bargaining on looted money as it was offered by Qasim Zia and he moved an application in this regard to National Accountability Bureau as reported by Customs Today in the beginning of September.

It is learnt that NAB agreed for this offer after Usman Qasim, son of Qasim Zia, filed an application with NAB under Section 25 of the NAB Ordinance by offering to pay all the liability of Qasim Zia in the case. The family of Qasim Zia agreed to pay Rs 20 million to NAB ordinance. NAB Lahore forwarded the plea of Qasim Zia to NAB Chairman for approval and if Chairman, being competent authority, approved the proposal, Zia would walk free from jail.
