LAHORE: The Punjab government has extended the last date for the payment of property tax with 5 percent concession till October 31, 2015 to facilitate maximum number of citizens in the province.
Official sources told Customs Today that due to Haj, and Eidul Azha holidays and slow process of issuing computerized challans, people could not clear their bills, which led the government to extend the date.
Punjab Excise and Taxation Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal now extended the date of special rebate period for 30 days more. He issued a circular that computerized property tax challans already issued would remain valid for payments at all branches of the National Bank of Pakistan and State Bank during the extended period.
Meanwhile, a large number of people rushed to State Bank and different branches of the National Bank to deposit tax.
