DUBAI: The Customs have arrested a passenger, who had come in from Dubai, for illegal smuggling of 1.4 kg of gold at the Mangaluru International Airport on Friday. According to an official press release, Customs sleuths checked the baggage of the passenger and found him carrying an unusually heavy voltage converter.

The passenger was arrested for contravention of provisions of the Customs Act, 1962, and Baggage Rules 1998. The man was produced before the Principal Civil Judge (Senior Division) Mangaluru.
