BEIJING: Chinese electronics manufacturer, Hisense, is expanding in Southern African countries in line with its continued commitment to both South Africa and the continent as a whole, the company said on Saturday.

In its latest move, Hisense has launched a new range of class leading smartphones, televisions and fridges into Zambia, which forms part of 15 African countries where Hisense has an established presence, with the brand being known for high quality products that offer superb value for money, Terri Yong of Hisense told Xinhua in an interview.

Hisense’s Deputy General Manager Pedro Teixeira said this showed the importance Hisense attaches to the Zambian market.

“Zambia has been on our radar for a long time and we are proud to be able to officially launch our product range locally. I urge customers to compare the value for money offered by Hisense products against other brands, I’m sure they will be pleasantly surprised to see what Hisense has to offer.

“There is a particularly good opportunity for our TVs in the market as our pricing is very competitive,” he said.

With over 25 years of experience in the Zambian market, local company Hazida Limited has been selected as distributor, with all major retailers set to stock Hisense products.

Speaking on behalf of Zambian distributors, Riaz Mulla of Hazida Limited said he believes that Hisense is set to make a big impact locally.

Hisense is expanding in the Southern African region with a new range of Ultra LED (ULED) televisions, which provides superb picture quality, a high dynamic range with enhanced 3D dimming and peak brightness of up to 550 nits.

Other products include a range of smartphones and the various refrigeration models.

Over the past 10 years, Hisense has set up factories in South Africa, Egypt and Algeria. Hisense has also established an export division to cater to Southern African countries. The export division is slated to serve Madagascar, Ghana and the Seychelles as well as Zambia, while it is already exporting products to Namibia, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Zambia, Botswana and Lesotho.
