NEW YORK: The St. Clair Area Chamber of Commerce is pushing to revitalize its Chamber Bucks program and create more business and community interest in the process.
Chamber Bucks are like coupons or gift certificates that can be purchased for a certain dollar amount and then redeemed at participating businesses. The Chamber first offered them in 2011 through its Merchants Committee, but the program never really took off.
The idea was the brainchild of Merchants Committee Chairman Lori Gratzer.
“We’ve kind of let this go,” Executive Director Charlene Saling said during the Chamber’s September membership meeting. “We’ve let it drop through the cracks.”
However, through the Chamber’s updated strategic plan, which Saling and board members worked on earlier this year, reaching out to membership and offering ways to help with visualization and promotion, the Shop St. Clair Campaign was reborn.
“We’re bringing more to you through the guidelines and goals set by the Chamber,” Saling said. “This will be a great way to show businesses we’re active and promoting them.”
According to its website, the St. Clair Chamber’s vision is to “deliver quality benefits to enhance growth, promote a positive image, and solidify business partnerships through effective communication with an emphasis on uniting the business community.”
Its mission is to be “a catalyst for improving the overall quality of our community by serving, representing and enhancing business growth and success.”
Saling said she will be “hitting the streets” this month soliciting businesses to participate in Chamber Bucks. The business has to be a Chamber member to participate.
