Dubai Customs chief organizes 5-day mega fair at Dubai world trade centre

DUBAI: The Director of Dubai Customs, Ahmed Mahboob Musabih, has met with DC’s GITEX work team to follow up on the latest preparations for the 5-day mega fair, which will kick on Sunday, at the Dubai World Trade Centre.

Musabih thanked team members and stressed that Dubai Customs is set to mark an exceptional participation, having two stands in the mega fair; one in the Dubai Smart Government pavilion, and the other under the umbrella of the Ports, Customs and Free Zone Corporation (PCFC) pavilion.

“We are propelled by the vision and directives of Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE and Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, concerning Dubai Smart City and mGovernment initiatives, as well as the Happiness Meter initiative, aimed at measuring clients’ satisfaction with our government services,” Ahmed Mahboob said.

As part of its partaking at GITEX 2015 under the motto “We innovate to facilitate trade,” Dubai Customs announced new smart services and high tech initiatives.

Dubai Customs new smart services and initiatives are: SMART TV services, Al Barza Employee Forum, SMART Workspace and New Revamped Website.

The Executive Director of Customs Development Division at Dubai Customs Juma Al Ghaith said that Dubai Customs never ceases to evolve, with new services and initiatives always being launched so that the organisation can meet its vision of being “The leading customs administration in the world supporting legitimate trade.”

The recent additions to DC’s long record of smart breakthroughs are in line with its target to deliver 80 per cent of Customs transactions via smart applications by 2018.

Shedding light on the new services and initiatives Dubai Customs launched during GITEX 2015, Al Ghaith stated that customs services are optimised to be accessed on SMART TV web browser. Moreover, SMART Workspace is a tool that enables clients to define declaration templates and mark their favourite and frequent declarations, increasing process efficiency and saving cost and time for them.

Al Ghaith added that Al Barza forum is set to contribute to spreading positive energy amongst staff members in the workplace. Al Barza employee forum is an electronic platform for DC staff to voice their thoughts and share experiences, knowledge and scientific papers that may serve Dubai Customs.
