ISLAMABAD: Federal Minister Pervaiz Rashid has blamed financial constraints in carrying out Iran-Pakistan (IP) gas pipeline project and said that the international financial institutions were reluctant to give funds to Pakistan due to sanctions on Iran.

He was talking to media along with Board of Investment Chairman Dr Miftah Ismail after the conclusion of a two-day International Investment Conference.

The Minister, however, said that the government is determined to complete the project as soon as possible. He said that the PML-N government would also complete other development projects that suffered delays due to various reasons. Pervaiz Rashid said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif would visit China in the first week of November and sign projects, including those related to country’s energy security. He added that all those projects could not be signed following the postponement of Chinese President’s visit to Pakistan due to prevailing political crisis.

Board of Investment Chairman Dr Miftah Ismail told media that the government functionaries have briefed the foreign investors on the investment opportunities in Pakistan and the conference has offered some new investment opportunities to international investors.
