Only 9,000 submit tax returns in Sialkot, Gujranwala until October 31

SIALKOT: The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) has miserably failed to lure the taxpayers, as the number of the annual tax returns depositors has declined to a great extant in both Sialkot and Gujranwala despite the two-month long extension in the deadline given for submission of the annual tax returns by the FBR.

On another note, the taxpayers were of the view that they were much perturbed due to the complicated taxation policies by the FBR.

According to the senior FBR officials, only 5,000 taxpayers out of total 73,000 have yet submitted their tax returns in Gujranwala region and only 4,000 taxpayers out of total 65000 have deposited their tax returns in Sialkot region here.

While, the number of annual tax returns submission was 40,000 at RTO Gujranwala and 33,000 at RTO Sialkot during the last fiscal year, the senior FBR officials added.

The FBR had given an official target of getting  73000 annual tax returns in Gujranwala region (comprising Gujranwala and Hafizabad districts) , besides, giving official target of 65000 annual tax returns submission in Sialkot region (comprising Sialkot, Narowal and Gujrat districts).

However, till end of the revised deadline of October 31, 2015, only 9000 tax payer submitted their annual tax returns in both of these regions, due to which the FBR remained unable to lure the maximum tax payers, in this regard.

While, several tax payers said that they were reluctant to submit their annual tax returns due to the very complicated procedure, which had not yet been simplified by the FBR to facilitate them…#
