Gold export on fake E-forms: SHC seeks comments from Customs prosecutor on bail plea of suspects

KARACHI: The Sindh High Court (SHC) sought comments from the Customs prosecutor on bail petitions of suspects who are behind bars for their alleged involvement in cases pertaining to the export of gold worth billions of rupees on fake E-forms. A single bench comprising Justice Hassan Azhar Rizvi has put off the hearing until November 5.

Sajid Abdul Qadir, Hanif Musa and others approached the Sindh High Court seeking their release on bail after the trial court dismissed their bail pleas.

Wajahat Minhas, Muhammad Zubair, Kashan Iqbal, Hanif Musa, Sajid Abdul Qadir, Muhammad Shahid, Irfan and Syed Abdul Qawi are in custody.  However, two accused Syed Tahir Hussain and Kamran Siddiqui have been released on bail. Tahir Ali and Muhammad Shakeel are still at large.

According to the details of the cases, the customs authorities registered five cases against exporters, including Saani Impex, BD Enterprises, Rubab Corporation, Makkah Enterprises and M/s Reaz Corporation for exporting gold worth billions of rupees on fake E-forms, causing huge losses to the national exchequer.
