Multan Customs intelligence seizes smuggled goods, truck worth Rs 11m‏

MULTAN: The Customs Intelligence and Investigation of the Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) Multan intercepted a truck loaded with smuggled goods from Dera Ghazi Khan.

Sources told Customs Today that Additional Director Nisar Ahmad received credible information that smuggled goods are coming from Quetta in  Dera Ghazi Khan. Customs formed an eight-member special team to thwart attempt of smuggling.

The Field Intelligence Unit of Customs Intelligence Dera Ghazi Khan stopped the Hino truck bearing registration no TAB-305 near check post of Koh-e- Suleiman and asked the driver to produce legal documents of the loaded goods. The driver failed to produce any import documents of the loaded goods and claimed that he belongs to Transportation Company and he is going to deliver this loaded goods to his client.

The said truck was fully loaded with foreign origin tyres, engines and auto spares parts. Customs team found almost 370 cartons of foreign origin steel concrete nails, 320 gearbox shafts, 180 fans for radiator, 14 drums of chemical methyl, 272 engines of motorcycles and high speed tyres.

Customs team apprehended loaded truck with smuggled goods and later seized the truck under Customs act 1969. The net values of seized goods are almost Rs 7.75 million and value of seized truck is Rs 3.5 million.
