ISLAMABAD: Pakistan received more than $763 million in external financial assistance during July, the first month of the current fiscal year, according to official data released by the Economic Affairs Division.
The government received $744.6 million in loans, while $18.3 million came in the form of grants.
The total external assistance is equivalent to around Rs214.99 billion, including Rs209.88 billion in loans and Rs5.10 billion in grants.
The data showed that Pakistan received around 10% more external financial assistance in July compared with the same month last year.
However, external financial assistance declined sharply on a month-on-month basis. The Economic Affairs Division reported an 81% decrease compared with June 2026, when Pakistan received more than $4 billion in external assistance.
International organisations provide major share
According to the data, various international organisations provided around $252.8 million to Pakistan during July.
The World Bank provided $130 million, while the Asian Development Bank (ADB) extended a loan of $59.1 million.
China provided $146.6 million in guaranteed loans during the month.
Bilateral countries collectively provided around $19.6 million in external financial assistance.
Naya Pakistan Certificate raises $343.9m
Pakistan also received $343.9 million through the Naya Pakistan Certificate during July, according to the Economic Affairs Division.
The figures cover the first month of the 2026-27 fiscal year and reflect Pakistan’s continued reliance on external financing to support its financial requirements.
