LAHORE:  The public at large has demanded the government to pass on benefit of reduction in fuel prices to them in the form of low prices of commodities and fares.

They have urged the government to reduce transport fares and prices of other daily-use item in proportion to cut in the rates of petroleum products. They urged the government to ensure trickledown effects of the reduction in POL prices at grassroots level.

Meanwhile, after price cut announcement, some owners across the district shut down their filling stations and others kept selling the products at higher rates. However, after stern instructions by the administration, the filling station owners started selling POL on new prices. Instead of taking action against the filling stations, the administration turned a deaf ear to the issue. The people urged the administration to take strict action against filling stations owners that kept selling POL at high prices. They also demanded reduction in electricity and gas tariff.
