ISLAMABAD: Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation headed by DG Imtiaz Ahmad Khan seized Rs 254 million smuggled goods and registered 95 cases against the smugglers while arrested five accused persons during the month of October 2015.
According to details, Deputy Director headquarter Khaldun ul Haq told Customs Today that during the course of anti-smuggling activities in October 2015 Directorate General Customs Intelligence and Investigation seized and recovered Rs 254 million smuggled goods in different parts of the country including Rs 14.0 million of 129,093 yards cloth, 701 kilograms of smuggled tea having worth of Rs 341,333 while 31 offending vehicles having worth of Rs 48.6 million were also seized during the month of October 2015.
He added that 117,100 liters of diesel having worth of Rs 9.06 million were recovered and seized, electronics goods worth of Rs 13.2 million, Rs 11.14 million of tyres, tubes and auto parts were also seized during the anti-smuggling drives in October 2015. He further added that 36 non duty paid vehicles worth of Rs39 million, and other miscellenous smuggled goods worth Rs 115.3 million were recovered and seized while 1875 numbers of smuggled blankets, and toiletries having worth of Rs 2.0 million were also siezed during anti- smuggling activities.
He added that during this month 95 cases were registered against the smugglers and five accused were arrested while further investigation are underway.
