Qatar’s milaha facility repairs over 6,600 ships

DOHA: Milaha’s ship repair facility at Mesaieed, which is a preferred yard of major yacht owners in Qatar, has repaired more than 6,600 ships over the past 37 years, said a statement yesterday.

The Qatar-based marine transport and logistics conglomerate, demonstrated its core marine services, particularly in ship repairs, to business visitors during the Qatar International Boat Show 2015, the Middle East’s premier yachting lifestyle event, which was held at Mourjan Marinas in Lusail City, from November 10 to 14.

Institute of Internal Auditors hold workshop on ‘systems thinking’

The shipyard has received multiple accreditations over the years and expanded its comprehensive line of services for yachts and traditional dhows, including covered air-conditioned facilities for hull repairs and painting, machinery and piping repairs, electrical repairs, HVAC services, refits and conversion, traditional wooden boats repairs and outfitting, among others.

Milaha’s President and CEO Abdulrahman Essa Al Mannai, said: “We are pleased to have taken part in this year’s Qatar International Boat Show which has established itself as a vital event in the regional maritime industry. Our shipyard has come a long way since its establishment in 1978 and we are here to promote the services it provides to ship owners and industry professionals both in Qatar and more broadly in the region.”

Michel Deleuran, Executive Vice-President, Maritime, said: “Qatar International Boat Show 2015 was an opportunity for us to showcase our services to existing and potential customers. We provide a high quality of services at our ship repair facilities and that is what made us a yard of choice for offshore vessels and other small to medium-sized vessels in the sub-150m LOA category.”

This year’s boat show was held under the patronage of Prime Minister and Interior Minister H E Sheikh Abdullah bin Nasser bin Khalifa Al Thani.

The premier industry event, which closed business deals worth more than QR80m in its 2014 edition, hosted over 90 companies, 120 brands and 85 boats both on land and in water.

The show had a family-friendly environment, featuring fun-filled activities, a children’s playground, and a wide range of food and beverage outlets.
