Midday: Bearish-note keeps KSE in negative zone as 100-index sheds 223pts

KARACHI: The stocks Monday opened week with negative note as the Karachi Stock Exchange benchmark KSE-100 index also lost the 34,000 points mark. The KSE dropped 222.58 points to reach 33922.20 level till midday.

The market witnessed the highest trading level of 34144.78 points and lowest level of 33887.07 points, with the total volume of 33,290,190 shares, having Rs2,563,234,489 value. As many as 294 companies were active; of which 110 advanced, 165 declined and 19 remained unchanged.

The three top traded companies were Pace (Pak) Ltd with a volume of 12,195,500 and price per share of 8.70 (0.15), Shabbir Tiles with a volume 7,770,000 of price per share of 9.60 (0.90), Pak Elektron with a volume 5,573,500 of price per share of 73.27 (1.33).

The top three advancers were Wyeth Pak Ltd with price per share 2500 (100) and 20 shares; Shezan Inter. XD with price per share of 713 (33) and 3,500 shares; and Noon Pakistan share of 321.41 (15.30) and 87,000.

The top three decliners were Rafhan Maize with price per share of 9400.25 (-494.75) and 20 shares volume, Bata (Pak) XD with price per share of 2950 (-41) and 120 shares volume, and Abbott Lab per share of 675 (-14.17) and 600 shares volume.

On Friday, the Karachi Stock Exchange dipped 0.32 per cent, losing 108.11 points to drop to 34156.45 points level at closing. Out of total 343 companies, 173 advanced, 158 declined and 12 remained unchanged.
