Appointment of Nasir Masroor as new Member Customs lauded

KARACHI: Newly appointed FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan and other top officials have lauded the decision of Finance Minister to give charge of Member Customs to an honest officer Nasir Masroor Ahmad.

FBR Reforms and Automation DG Nasir Masroor Ahmed has taken the charger of new Member Customs, FBR House. He has replaced Nisar Muhammad Khan who has been promoted as new FBR Chairman.

Nasir Masroor, an officer of Grade 21, served the Board as Member Reforms and Automation for a few months. He had performed his duties as Appraisement-South Chief Collector for four years as well as the Appraisement Collector. Earlier he performed as Chief Tariff in FBR Headquarters, Islamabad. He is junior to current FBR Chairman Nisar Muhammad Khan.

During his tenure as the DG of Reforms and Automation, Nasir Masroor had introduced significant reforms within the department, which were appreciated by all quarters.

He also gave special attention to the future collaborations between Pakistan Customs and the IATA, as well as working closely with China Customs and Afghan Customs for the development of Electronic Data Interface, mainly to highlight Pakistan Customs’ resolve to trade facilitation and modernisation, besides curbing smuggling and under invoicing.

Earlier, the as Appraisement-South Chief Collector, Nasir Masroor ensured constant contact with the officials of collectorates within his domain, including Appraisement-West, Appraisement-East and Port Qasim, in order to give them proper guidelines regarding the achievement of revenue targets.

Nasir also frequently interacted with the business community in order to resolve their issues, especially those related to clearance of consignments. On the other hand, he had time and again said in clear words that under-invoicing was a dilemma that affects the national exchequer to a great extent. He had expressed his resolve at every forum to curb malpractices, especially misdeclaration, under-invoicing and tax evasion.
