88 properties sealed as Excise Department launches crackdown against property tax defaulters

LAHORE: The Excise and Taxation (ET) Department has initiated a massive crackdown on property tax defaulters.

Punjab ET Director General Akram Ashraf Gondal has issued special instructions to take stern action against property tax defaulters. A senior official of the Excise Punjab told Customs Today said that the department is taking special interest in recovery of property tax, as it is the largest source of revenue for the Punjab Excise and Taxation Department.

He added that a special instruction has been sent to the regional officers to improve their recoveries and achieve a minimum of 80 percent target within current month. Excise teams will seal the defaulter of properties from now on and no relaxation will be given to the defaulters, source added.

Meanwhile Excise Kasur has sealed 88 properties on default in Kasur and other cities of the district Excise District officer Malik Muhammad Aslam told Customs Today. The crackdown is likely to continue on defaulters of professional, education, entertainment, property and motor vehicle tax.
