ISLAMABAD: The Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) has foiled a bid to smuggle Rs554 million worth of drugs, including 70kg heroin and 76kg opium abroad at Port Qasim.
The ANF Karachi Seaport Team captured a Canada-bound container No MRKU-5267523 at International Container Terminal at Port Qasim, Karachi.
The search of the container led to a seizure of 70 kg heroin and 76 kg opium. Drugs were packed in plastic sachets and were concealed tactfully inside the improvised cavities created in walls and floor of the container.
The container was being dispatched by a commercial company stationed at Karachi to a foreign commercial company based at Canada. A suspect namly Shaikh Muhammad Akram was also taken into custody for investigations.
A case has been registered at ANF police station and further investigation is underway.
