LAHORE: The Special Federal Court of Customs Taxation and Anti-Smuggling has approved a two-day physical remand of accused Shaukat Ali in smuggling of Iranian plastic raw material.
According to details available to Customs Today, the Customs Intelligence on information raided a warehouse of Shaukat Ali in Shahdara area of Lahore. During the raid, the Customs team found a huge quantity of polyethylene material from the warehouse which was smuggled from Iran. tHE Customs team seized all the smuggled material and arrested the owner of the material Shaukat Ali son of Miraj Din.
On Wednesday, the custom investigation and prosecution team produced him before the court of Chaudary Ameer Muhammad Khan and asked for physical remand of the accused for three days as more investigation required from the accused. Court after hearing arguments approved two days physical remand and asked the investigation team to again present him before the court on 20th November for further trial.
Total worth of the smuggled items was Rs 1.9 million and weight was 10950 kilograms. A case is already registered against Shaukat Ali under section 2(s), 16, 156,(1) and 178 of Pakistan Customs act 1969.
