Police arrest man in wildlife smuggling case

KATHMANDU: A youth has been arrested by the Central Investigation Bureau from Srijananagar in Suryabinayak Muncipality-1 of Bhaktapur on Sunday with the possession of an alive turtle and body parts of endangered species.

The arrestee has been identified as Anish Waiba (21) of Mahadevisthan VDC -3 of Sindhuli district.

Police seized a yellow-coloured alive turtle, a deer leg along with paws, claws of a wild bird and some bones of protected species.

Police have sent Waiba to the Bhaktapur District Forest Office, Sanothimi, for further investigation.

Police informed that the alive turtle has been sent to the Central Zoo in Jawalakhel.
