Govt to start crackdown against smuggling, drug mafias

ISLAMABAD: The federal government has decided to launch a crackdown against the smuggling and drug mafia while strategic plans are already finalized in this regard it is learnt here.

According to details this crackdown will be started in Peshawar, Rawalpindi, Islamabad, Quetta, Gawadar, Lahore and other big cities of the country.

Sources added that after receiving credible information that smuggling menace is spreading in some areas of the country government decided to launch operation against it with iron hands.

Sources added that teams are formed for this purpose in which five deputy collectors, eight superintends, ten senior preventive officers, eight inspectors, and fifteen sepoys will be included in special teams. It is finalized that the team will be in customs uniform.

Sources said that police and a Magistrate will also be part of the team. Sources also added that the money which earned by drugs mafia and thorough smuggling it is used for terrorists activities as well.
